Next evening Louis Vuitton, was held across the street from the Louis Vuitton Sale, along the Pont-Neuf. A white tent was constructed around the glass and cement edifice, which held the photo exhibit and launch of Bono collaboration with Vuitton. Before Bono arrived, LV head of communications Antoine Arnault and LV CEO Yves Carcelle mingled with the guests, while Naomi Campbell was surrounded by 15 people with mobile phones, all trying to get a snapshot of her. Rock god Bono entered surrounded tightly by security. The exhibit Africa Rising, was launched in time with the LV ad. It features Edun founders Ali Hewson and Bono. The ground floor displayed African art from the collection of Jean Pigozzi, considered the most renowned in the world. Younger artists showed photos of the streets of Brazzaville, while others showed photos of hip-hop, society and women in South Africa. I ended Breast Cancer Awareness Month doing something I should have done in the beginning of the month I had a mammogram. It actually was due Oct. 1, but somehow I manage to be a few weeks late every year. It certainly not due to lack of reminders. Breast Health Services at LV Sale, where I always go, sends me a scheduling reminder well in advance of the date Im due. Still I always seem to put it off. Im busy and I work fulltime, I try to rationalize. But I finally admit to myself that the real reason goes a little deeper than that. I think there an element of fear not of the test, itself, but what it might reveal. And, I suspect Im not alone. We get this test, we hope, to find out we do nt have breast cancer. But the truth is, we actually know that it can tell us if we do have it.
Influencing that truth even more this year is that during the last two months, I've written three stories on courageous woman who have battled breast cancer. The stories of these amazing women reminded me that although we always want everything, sometimes it does nt. Many years ago, it happened to my own mother. A mammogram revealed a cluster of suspicious microcalcifications. A biopsy confirmed it was breast cancer. I can remember as vividly is if were yesterday the fear on my mother face and the fear of losing her inside my heart. But, my mom was lucky. Louis Vuitton Mahina. It also saved the life of at least one of the women in my stories. So better late than never. I called and made my appointment. Actually, the test is relatively quick and easy much easier than the colonscopies I undergo every few years to screen for colon cancer, and much easier and quicker than getting a filling at the dentist. With the hope that I can perhaps convince someone who has never had a mammogram that it not so bad, Im going to walk you through my experience.
Quote When I arrived at Breast Health Services Thursday, I was greeted by two friendly women a receptionist and another woman, Linda, who escorted me to a desk to take my medical information. I jabbered about traffic and other silly things as the fear mounted inside me. I tend to do that when I'm nervous.
